2010 Professional Bull Riders Madison Square Garden Invitational

When you look at the shots above you think maybe Texas or Colorado, but it was here in NYC! MSG was packed with crazy fans of the PBR tour. If you get the chance to see bull riding up close, don't wait. Go! The bulls are massive! I think they get as much fan frenzy as the riders! And the bulls put on a show. They toss the riders off their back like a rag doll. It's fun. I just never thought I would have a chance to shoot them here in Manhattan. Crazy but true! Shane Proctor is the rider pictured above who won the cash today. Think it's worth it? He won over $50K today. Not bad for a day's work.

What a great sport. Annie was freezing today but she stayed with it and ended up with some very cool shots! ;-)
All but the lower center shot were done with Nikon SB-900 Speedlights. The bottom shot is A Speedotron 1500 Explorer pack and one head through an umbrella. I also have 2 SB-900 speedlights on both sides of her.

Yes folks, this is FILM. I wanted to go back and push myself into doing something different. Relearning photography. I needed to slow down and see. Most of the film I have is from the 90's, so it's very outdated. You just never know what your going to get when you develop it. This is a sweet camera. Let me know what you think. k

On the left is a shot of Zakk Wylde from 15 or so years ago. On the right is one from last night. He is still a guitar GOD and the fans were out in full force to see him perform. He did not disappoint! The band hit the stage about 9:30pm. The set went on and on. Just before midnight, it came to a close with a full band bow and fist bumps with the fans. I forgot what a wall of Marshall stacks sounded like at close range! Only now I wear ear plugs. A great show.

My new issue of W magazine arrived today. I did a quick scan through it and found two pages of stink! Over the past several months, many of my zines have been stink-free and I was loving it. The industry has commented on how bad advertising has been and I also feel their pain. With that said, I loved not having to go through every magazine and tear out all the fragrance ads before I could check out the photography. I'm sure someone else missed the stink - just not me!
